"Me"

After knowing that Yahoo is no longer buying cache data from Google, I did a search of "minghong" using Yahoo!

The first search result was http://minghong.blogspot.com, which means this blog. But what suprising me was that this link was the second result after clicking More pages from this site.

O__O||| Why did he release this subdomain back to the public? (Or otherwise I won't be able to use this subdomain now... ^^:)

I was (nearly) TRAPPED in CityU and Kowloon Tong!

Yulam and I was staying in the office nightly yesterday night so as to finish the video taking of project 2. We finished our job at about 12:00 and then left separately. I went straight to the main entrance (red door) and was going to leave. But the doors are LOCKED!

Then I went to MMW floor 1 to see if I could go back to the festival walk in that way. But a security woman suddenly went out from the door and stopped me from approaching. She said that all doors are closed. The only way out was to go through the China garden.

So I went back to floor 4 and still found the door locked. I phoned to Yulam. Know what? One of the doors is NOT locked! So amazing!

Finally I got out of CityU and took the last trip of MTR back to home... sweet... home... If I got out later, I would miss that very last trip... -__-|||

Valid XHTML 1.1! (well... almost...)

I've modified my wiki so that it is now generating valid XHTML 1.1 code with a correct MIME type of "application/xml+xhtml". Some of the code are still invalid. These are mainly related to the nested list.

Also, I've remove all the tables for layout. Now the code using CSS is much cleaner while the layout look more or less the same!

Toward XHTML 1.1

My wiki has been modified to use "application/xml+html" and "application/xml" for the XML-aware web browsers. For the stupid IE and other browsers which doesn't support these 2 content types yet, the ASP will determinate and change the content types to the suitable ones: "text/html" and "text/xml" respectively.

My First Macro For OpenWiki

I've created my first macro for OpenWiki: <Object>.

It makes use of the <OBJECT> tag recommended by the W3C for generic embedding of objects, including HTML documents, images, flashes, etc. Not all browsers support all the common MIME types (even Mozilla), and IE is especially poor at displaying <OBJECT> tags (but I don't care =P).

If you are using OpenWiki, give it a try! Go to my wiki to see how it looks like!

No problem in IE and Mozilla though. So weird...

P.S. Right after writting this post, it is back to normal again. o__O||

FYP Topic

Recently I found more and more classmates are actively contracting professors for FYP issues. (Well, there also exists some professors who actively finding students...) It seems that it is also time for me to think about that.

I don't have a solid idea about what I'm going to do. But hopefully it will be a web application. This also remind me about a title of an article that I read earlier in Oracle Magazine: Applications come and go, but data lives on forever. Many people are not serious in database schema design. They just simply treat it as a dummy data store that can be selected, inserted, updated and deleted. How sad...

The Improved Calendar Script - Bloglendar

Bloglendar

The major change I made is the seperation of style into a CSS file. To download or know more about it, go to Bloglendar.

Two Great Things...

Tonight I found two interesting screenshots when I did a search for Netscape icon. The URL is: http://www.furryterror.org/~zblaxell/

They are screenshots showing Netscape and Mozilla browser respectively. The Netscape one is browsing the website MegaTokyo at the Year 2000 while the Mozilla one is browsing ashura.furryterror.org (not accessible at the time of writting). So interesting: my favorite browsers and web comic showing on the same screenshot! It seems that the old browsers can't display some images properly:

Mozilla Firebird is renamed as Mozilla Firefox at version 0.8

Mozilla Firefox is exactly Mozilla Firebird. It's mozilla.org's decision to rename the product at version 0.8. The reason is simple: there is another OpenSource project which use the name "Firebird". Hmm... this name should be permanent...

And look like the new release if sooooo attractive that firebird section of texturizer.net is temporarily down, leaving a message like this:

Getting hit too hard from this Firefox release. Try the mirror:

Internal Compiler Error =___=

What the...

Martin@Martin /brickos/checker
$ make main.lx
/bin/h8300-hms-gcc -M -I/brickos/include -I/brickos/include/lnp -I/brickos/boot
-I. *.[c][p][p] > .depend
/bin/h8300-hms-g++ -DCXX -O2 -fno-builtin -fomit-frame-pointer -Wall -I/brickos/
include -I/brickos/include/lnp -I/brickos/boot -I.  -c checker.cpp -o checker.o
checker.cpp: In method `unsigned int Checker::waitForBrick ()':
checker.cpp:129: Internal compiler error.
checker.cpp:129: Please submit a Problem Report to Cygnus Solutions
with Clarify.
make: *** [checker.o] Error 1

This happened when I compiled my program with BrickOS under cygwin... The code fragment which cause the problem was just a do-while loop...

unsigned int currentReading;
do {
	currentReading = detector.getScaled();
	process.mpause( SAMPLING_INTERVAL );
} while ( currentReading > backgroundLevel - TOLERANCE_LEVEL
	&& currentReading < backgroundLevel + TOLERANCE_LEVEL );

Just A Few Notes...

There's something that is quite interesting (to me):

Before leaving the office, I VNC to home. I intended to add a little job for my Nandub as I'm re-ripping my Gundam Seed DVD-rip collection. The collection is from Popgo and are pretty huge. But what I found is that my dad was playing Solitaire... ^^:: So I gave up and gave the control back to my dad. I think he will only think that the mouse was not working properly. =P

By the way, I meet Stanley, Tony and Kit at the CS Lab when I'm writting this blog. They are doing their internet security assignment using Java.
